Install gnuplot 4.6 with pdf on Ubuntu

    2. yes, I just folllowed the steps on this webpage.
      It appears that gnuplot doesn't activate the
      x11 term. I can plot but if I give it first
      the instructions "set terminal output", etc.

      Do I need to re-install it?

    3. if you want to plot the graph to a pdf file, you need to give the first instruction: "set term pdf" in your gnu script file. Is that what you are asking?

    4. What I mean is, if you just do "pl x", this configuration doesn't display the usual window, like in gnuplot 4.2. You're only able to see a plot if you do previously made "set term something"
